Rosslyn Chapel: At A Glance (Throwback)

by - 6:56:00 PM

Another #throwback post from my past trip to the UK.  This time I’ll take you to one of Scotland’s most beautiful and mysterious attractions and that is Rosslyn Chapel.  It’s featured in Da Vinci Code and then became world famous ever since.  I’m sure that if you’ve read the book or maybe seen the film, you know a little about this place.  I, on the other hand, never did read the book nor did I see the film (yeah, I know..boo me).  But I promise you this place holds, holds a deep secret (or so they said) :p

Look at those gargoyles.

The chapel was originally named the Collegiate Chapel of St. Matthew.  It is a 15th-century church in the village of Roslin, only around 10-11km (45 minutes) from Edinburgh by bus.  The chapel is famous both for its decorative art and its mysterious associations with the Knight Templar, the Holy Grail and the Freemasons.  Though the chapel is not that big, the carvings and its meanings are fascinating, there would be some local staffs inside the chapel who would be very please to explain everything to you.  You will also find a café just next to the information kiosk  If you’d like to know more about this place, please visit http://www.rosslynchapel.com/

I can’t tell much about this place, ugh, this is so embarrassing! Usually I have good memory about every place I have visited.  In my defense, I was not in a very good mood (more like pissed) therefore I didn’t pay much attention, yeah blame my traveling partner!  The weather was cute for that time (still freezing cold though) but at least there’s snow, which made the surrounding even better; I was supposed to be excited, but oh well.  Probably you can tell how I felt in these pictures.

Yeah, not so great.  Such a shame for a beautiful place like this.
