First Day in South Korea

South Korea!! Well, honestly Korea was never on my list, I used to be a fan of K-Pop and K-Drama but never really wanted to go there, but my mother had huge curiosity about this country and love cosmetics.  As many people know, this country produce not only electronics and automobiles, but also high quality of cosmetics, and cheap.  So, there I was, in South Korea, with my parents.  I only spent less than one week there, but got the chance to visit 6 cities including an island, that's the perks of purchasing travel package ;)

So, we arrived in the morning in Incheon Int'l Airport, there the local guide already waited for us, her name is Emily Lee.  Most of the information I'll be writing about this trip will be based on her explanation and little from traveling websites just to back up the fact :)

South Korea is a country in Korean Peninsula borders with North Korea, its population is around 50 millions of people.  It's biggest city is Seoul, the capital city, Busan, and Incheon.  On my first day in South Korea, Emily took us to visit Korea Food & Culture Institute in Paju-si, Dragon Head Rock, Ice Museum  & Trick Eye Museum in Jeju Island.

1.  Korea Food & Culture Institute

The place is located in Paju-si, a city nearby Seoul, just the northern part of South Korea and very very close to the borders to North Korea.  There tourists can wear Hanbok (Korean National Dress) and take some pictures on the various background set.  Well, I prefer taking pictures outdoor to indoor, because I have terrible photography skill :|

Visitors can also find out about Korean dishes, how to make it etc etc and also buy the package food snacks, which were a good deal.  Korean food are mostly simple and light but delicious, they love hot pot, I do too :) I love Asian food so much, that there's a pinch of happiness after tasting it :)  After this we were taken to have lunch, then to Gimpo Airport to fly Jeju Island.

2.  Dragon Head Rock (Yongdu-Am) (용두암)

Jeju Island is an island in southern part of South Korea (yeah!) It.s not a big island, but it's really famous as honeymoon destination for the locals and it also has many tourist attractions.

Yongdu-Am or Dragon head Rock is located to the north of Jeju City, Yongduam was created by strong winds and waves over thousands of years. However, there are plenty of other stories of its origin, you know how people love to make stories :D

It's not big, nearby Yongdu-am there are plenty of street foods, restaurants and bars.

3.  Ice Museum and Trick Eye Museum (트릭아이미술관)

Both are located in the same building.  Ice Museum exhibits sculptures that elevated the ice up to the state of art, it a bit chilly after spending 15 minutes in there.

Trick Eye Museum is an art gallery with paintings created using 'trompe l'oeil' techniques that give each 2D art piece the illusion of being in 3D. Instead of merely viewing paintings (as in a typical art gallery) visitors can interact with the paintings, posing themselves just right so that they look as if they are part of the original work. - visitkorea.or.kr
The admission fee for adult is around KRW15,000.  Umm, the place is cute, but it's not really my scene, so good to know, good to visit.  I'm sure there's plenty other Trick Eye Museum all over the world, there's one in my country too, but the arts are different in each place.

So that's it for the first day in Korea, fun!
